John 16:23 & 24 (AMPC)
And when that time comes, you will ask nothing of Me [you will need to ask Me no questions]. I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, that My Father will grant you whatever you ask in My Name [as presenting all that I Am]. Up to this time you have not asked a [single] thing in My Name [as presenting all that I Am]; but now ask and keep on asking and you will receive, so that your joy (gladness, delight) may be full and complete.
Our outlook in the place of prayer matters a lot. It determines how we go about our communication with the Father. If we feel He is not pleased to see us or hear us, then we try to bribe Him (either with songs of praise or promises) appease Him before making a request. If we feel He wouldn’t want to grant our requests then we try to cajole Him into doing what we request (for example, by quoting His Words or reminding Him of what He had once said). Now whilst the actions of making promises, singing songs of praise or ‘reminding’ Him of His promises may in themselves be okay, the motive behind them is of utmost importance.
As new creatures, we must always pray with the mindset and understanding that He is ever eager to hear us and to grant our requests. If we find ourselves trying to convince the father to do something, then it is either a sign we know we shouldn’t be requesting for that or we are ignorant of who we are in Christ Jesus.
The Father does not need us to convince Him to do something. He is eagerly waiting for us to desire to receive what He freely offers to us. He wants us to ask and keep on asking, so that our joy (gladness, delight) may be full and complete.
Prayer is not about trying to convince the father to do something. He is more eager to give than we are ready to receive.
I acknowledge that the Father is more eager to supply the desired than I am ready to receive. I acknowledge that the Father joyfully looks forward to hearing from me and granting the requests I make. I choose to pray with the right outlook. I know who I am in Christ Jesus. Hallelujah!!
Isaiah 65: 24 I will answer them before they even call to me. While they are still talking to me about their needs, I will go ahead and answer their prayers! (TLB).
Romans 8: 32 He who did not withhold or spare [even] His own Son but gave Him up for us all, will He not also with Him freely and graciously give us all [other] things? (AMPC).
