1Corinthians 14:4 (TLB)
So a person “speaking in tongues” helps himself grow spiritually, but one who prophesies, preaching messages from God, helps the entire church grow in holiness and happiness.
As new creatures, we are designed to be in a state of continuous growth. The Father expects us and has empowered us to move from glory to glory; for the path of the just (righteous) is like the light of dawn, that shines brighter and brighter until [it reaches its full strength and glory in] the perfect day (Proverbs 4: 18 AMP).
Our continuous and steady growth is of so great importance to the Father that we find Him, in numerous passages of scripture, berating those that seem to be stunted in their growth; even to the point of threatening to spew out the lukewarm. He has also supplied us with tools with which we are to develop ourselves or grow in the faith. One of this tools is prayer and more specifically praying in the Spirit.
The scriptures make it clear that when we pray in the Spirit, though we may not understand what we are saying and though it may seem as though nothing tangible is happening, we are moving from one level of glory to another. In other words, the level of glory we are at when we start speaking in tongues is not the same level of glory we are at the end of the prayer. Speaking in tongues is as potent in ensuring our spiritual growth as studying the Word because just as the Word, speaking in tongues makes us grow spiritually.
It is the Father’s heart that we live as sons, and not as babes/children [spiritually immature], tossed back and forth [like ships on a stormy sea] and carried about by every wind of [shifting] doctrine, by the cunning and trickery of [unscrupulous] men, by the deceitful scheming of people ready to do anything [for personal profit] (Ephesians 4: 14 AMP) and we can achieve tremendous growth by speaking in tongues.
Decide today to make speaking in tongues a lifestyle. Take a hands-on approach to your spiritual growth
Father thank you for the power in speaking in tongues. I acknowledge that by speaking in tongues I grow spiritually and move from glory to glory. I decide this day to make speaking in tongues an active lifestyle unto my edification and growth in Christ. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Jude 1: 20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost.
