Jeremiah 1:4 - 10 (TLB)
The Lord said to me, “I knew you before you were formed within your mother’s womb; before you were born I sanctified you and appointed you as my spokesman to the world.” “O Lord God,” I said, “I can’t do that! I’m far too young! I’m only a youth!” “Don’t say that,” he replied, “for you will go wherever I send you and speak whatever I tell you to. And don’t be afraid of the people, for I, the Lord, will be with you and see you through.” Then he touched my mouth and said, “See, I have put my words in your mouth! Today your work begins…
Israel was in a state of rebellion against God so greater than any rebellion they have been before. They had rebelled many times against the Father before, but this very rebellion was at the peak. Many prophets have been sent to warn them of the danger of their evil ways and to show them the love of the Father for them, but they were in no mood to listen or change. Rather than listen to the Father’s messengers, they killed them or locked them in prisons. They were bent on having their way and nothing was going to stop them.
It was in this state of things that the Father called Jeremiah. He did not choose the elders of the people or any influential person to speak to the people; instead He chose to send a young lad. He chose to send Jeremiah; an unknown kid with no recognised office or authority. Understandably, Jeremiah felt he was unqualified for the job; he was just a young chap with no prior experience; but the Father did not agree with him. Jeremiah was more than qualified, though he didn’t know it. He was sent to the earth specifically for that assignment, long before he was born he was selected and empowered for the job and above all the Father was always going to be with him. What other qualification did he need?
The Father has put us on this earth with specific assignments all geared towards the fulfilment of the higher purpose of the Father. The general purpose of the organisation to which we belong is the salvation of souls; but we have our own specific roles to play. We have our own specific assignments and place of operation/impact. Looking through the eyes of the world, it seems these assignments are far greater than us and that we don’t have what it takes to get it done. It seems we are unqualified. But we know the truth, we are more than qualified for the job. We have all we need to be successful in the assignment that has been given to us. No one else on earth can do our assignment better than us. We are the Father’s first and best choice for the job. We don’t look at what the world sees; all we see is the Father in us, His confidence in us and His ability at work in us. Just as the Father told Jeremiah, “today our work begins”, we must unfold our hands and get to work. We are not too young!
Don’t be a coward. Don’t be afraid to do what the Father has sent you on earth to do. Don’t look down on yourself, because of your background, your present knowledge, available resources, etc. You have the Holy Spirit, the answer to all needs, always with you. Move at the word ‘go’ (not before not after). You are qualified, yea, you are more than qualified!
I have a great assignment from the Father. An assignment no one else can do better than I. I am the Father’s first and best choice for the job. I am not afraid. I am not a coward. I choose to move at the word ‘go’ as led by the Holy Spirit. I am more than qualified!! Glory to God!!
Matthew 25: 14 & 15 For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods. And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.
