John 14:16 - 18 (AMP)
And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), to be with you forever— the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive [and take to its heart] because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He (the Holy Spirit) remains with you continually and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans [comfortless, bereaved, and helpless]; I will come [back] to you
Whilst Jesus was on earth, He was everything to His disciples. He was the answer to all their problems. If they needed answers to any questions, they went to Him. If they needed directions, they went to Him. If they needed financial or material provision, they turned to Him. When the storms raged against them in the boat, they ran to Him. There is not one record where they tried taking care of any issues themselves; they had the Master and they were always glad to turn to Him. He was the one answer to all their needs. If they had Him with them, then they were okay. Even Jesus pointed it out that the guests of the bridegroom cannot mourn while the bridegroom is still with them. They can only do so when the bridegroom is taken away from them (Matthew 9: 15).
After three and half years of His ministry on earth, Jesus (the bridegroom) is about to leave; but He was not going to leave his disciples (the guest of the bridegroom) mourning. He was bent on ensuring they still have, after His departure, all they had when he was with them. He was bent on returning. He was going to send another like Him, and the Holy Spirit He sent.
Just as Jesus was the answer to all the needs of the disciples, even much more so is the Holy Spirit the answer to all our needs. If ever you have found yourself thinking ‘if Jesus were still on earth, I would have gone to meet Him for this or that’, then you need to go see the Holy Spirit. He is Jesus returned to the earth. He is the answer to all we need. Unlike the Jesus that was on the earth during the disciples’ day, the Holy Spirit is always awake and cannot be fatigued.
The Father sent the Holy Spirit specifically to be our helper, comforter, advocate, intercessor, counsellor, strength, and standby. What better way is there to comfort the bereaved than to raise the dead? What better way is there to comfort the hungry than to give him food? What better way to bring comfort to the sick than to heal Him? These where the things the man Jesus did whilst He was on earth and the Holy Spirit is here to do greater and better, by giving us everlasting life and power over death, by supplying our needs ever before they arise (keeping us in sufficiency, never lacking any good thing), by keeping us in divine health, by making us effective ministers of the grace and love of the Father to our world, etc.
You have the Holy Spirit and, as such, have all the answer to any needs you may ever have. Choose to dwell in the sufficiency the Father has already made available to you.
Heavenly Father, thank you for giving me the Holy Spirit as my helper, comforter, advocate, intercessor, counsellor, strength, and standby. I always have all sufficiency in all things and abound to every good work because I have the Holy Spirit. Hallelujah!!
2 Corinthians 3:5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;
Luke 22: 35 And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing.
