Isaiah 26:3 (AMPC)
You will keep in perfect and constant peace the one whose mind is steadfast [that is, committed and focused on You—in both inclination and character], Because he trusts and takes refuge in You [with hope and confident expectation].
Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you couldn’t hear what the person sitting right next to you was saying because of how noisy the place/room was? It wasn’t that the person wasn’t audible enough, the room/place was just too noisy for smooth and effective communication. Communication may still be done in such an environment but it would much easier and fun if it were to be done in a quiet and peaceful environment. The same goes for our communication with the Holy Spirit. He is so nigh to us and He speaks to us loud and clear always; however, if the place is too noisy we would find it difficult to hear Him. By place, I am not referring to our surrounding but the state of our mind, and yes, it is possible to have absolute silence within, even in the noisiest of surroundings. In our communication with the Holy Spirit, it doesn’t matter how quiet or noisy our environment is; what matters is how quiet our minds are. A clear and peaceful mind is a great asset in our communication with the Father and the beauty of having a clear mind is that we don’t live at the level of pausing to listen more carefully as one that heard a call from afar; rather with a clear mind, we communicate without inhibitions (or mouth to mouth as the KJV renders it).
Our minds become rowdy and troubled when we let in worry and fear (in any of its countless disguises) to sneak in. Suddenly, we are more focused on meeting a certain deadline either at work or at school we forget it’s not unto him that wills or unto him that runs but the grace of God at work in us. Because we let in fear, we become so concerned with how to make more money, we forget that the Father knows we have need of these things and would certainly provide. Soon, confusion, panic and ‘Martha syndrome’ takes over; and like in a noisy room, though the Holy Spirit is sitting so close and speaking at the top of His voice, getting the full message is somewhat a struggle. The noise of cares, worries, pending deadlines, unpaid bills, fear of the unknown, uncertainty, fear of retrenchment, etc. have become so loud it is drowning His voice.
How can you have a clear and peaceful mind even amid numerous activities? The answer is focus on the Master (as an inclination and character, i.e. it is the default setting not the backup plan when all else fails) and trust in Him. You must give no room for worries and choose to trust the Master and take His Word for it; knowing fully well that by focusing on the Master (and His Word) and listening to Him (the Holy Spirit) you will find the divine wisdom to accomplish any task without breaking a sweat.
I refuse to give room to worry and fear. I choose to focus on the Father and absolutely trust Him and His Word. I do not have a rowdy mind. I do not have an unsettled heart. I have a peaceful and clear mind. I receive every message the Holy Spirit has for me without inhibitions and restriction. Glory to God!!
Matthew 6:22&23 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!
Luke 10: 40 - 42 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
