1 Peter 1: 15 - 16
15. But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
16. Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy
All through the scriptures we see the Father making numerous calls for holiness.
Each directive God gave to the children of Israel, during the time of Moses, as regards personal conducts were in one way or the other hinged on the demand for Holiness
Leviticus 11: 45
For I am the LORD that bringeth you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy
We also see the word “holy” attributed to places, things, people and the like as they are related to God or the service of God.
Agreed the word Holy or Holiness is sometimes used to imply consecration (or being set apart for the use of God or His service) but this is only because the so described object is borrowing this attribute from God unto whom it is consecrated.
Holiness is not about a setting apart but the attribute acquired due to this setting apart.
Just like God demanded of the Israelis during the time of Moses, even so in these last days is He demanding same from the church - the body of Christ.
He is a holy God and whosoever that must be intimate with him must be the same – holy.
It is not optional, it is not a suggestion. It is a demand!
Amos 3: 3
Can two walk together, except they be agreed?
The call of the Father still remains the same today.
It is still a call to Holiness.
Hence it becomes of every child of the Kingdom to first discover what Holiness means and then live up to this expectation
