Continued from Part One (25/03/16)
In the previous post, we saw how that the faith of God is not a product of studying or hearing the Word of God but rather it is received at salvation.
Today we shall be seeing the validity and beauty of this claim as stated in the scriptures
Little wonder the Bible talks about receiving faith at salvation as a free gift.
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that (faith is) not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Ephesians 2: 8 KJV (Emphasis mine)
Recall that the Bible calls faith the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11: 1). That is, faith is the reason why we believe (and expect the unseen to happen) and not the ‘belief’ itself.
Thus with this understanding, we see Philippians 1: 29 also speaking about faith as a gift received, by grace, at salvation.
For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, (the abiltiy or faith) not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;
Philippians 1: 29 KJV (Emphasis mine)
Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works (i.e. not self-generated faith), but according to his own purpose and (faith given by) grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,
2 Timothy 1: 9 KJV (Emphasis mine)
Moreover we see Galatians 5:22 declaring ‘faith ’to be a product of the Holy Spirit (not studying or reading the Word); for the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law and we know that we receive this Spirit at the point of salvation
10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise,
14 Who is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
Ephesians 1: 10 – 14 KJV
Thus we see that faith of God is not a product of studying the Bible but a product of the Holy Spirit (see Zechariah 4:6 and 2 Corinthians 4: 13), who at the point of salvation convicts us of sin and imparts us with the faith of God which we need to believe unto salvation and live a life of exploits. We receive this faith of God when we surrender our heart to Christ (the Holy Spirit), who in turn dwells in our heart.
What is the Faith of God?
The faith generated and given by the Father and not human effort in any way
Who is the origin of the God kind of faith?
The Holy Spirit (the Spirit of faith) and/or Jesus (the author and finisher of faith Hebrews 12: 2)
How do you receive the God kind of faith?
Become a new creature in Christ Jesus and you would receive it at the point of salvation
