In the previous part we began our study on how obedience is a neccessary key to yielding to the Holy Spirit by defining what obedience entails.
In this post we shall be seeing how obedience is an expression of yielding to the Holy Spirit
The danger of disobedience is that repetition hardens the heart and soon perversion takes over.
21. Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
24. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
Romans 1: 21 – 22, 24
Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? Then may ye also do good, that are accustomed (by reason of practice) to do evil.
Jeremiah 13: 23 (Emphasis mine)
Dearly beloved, if you must achieve holiness then the Holy Spirit must be fully in charge (not partly – today he is charge, tomorrow you take over, when the instruction is nice and comfortable you do and when it is not you don’t ) and obedience is the only way to prove this.
Stop asking the wrong questions of unbelief; How? Why? Who? (Me?); and embrace the revelation and instructions provoking questions of When and Where.
The faster you obey the faster you grow. If you don’t agree ask the Israelites that spent forty years in the wilderness for a few days journey.
Never forget; every instruction has a time frame within which it is to be executed; outside which it is disobedience!
Obedience, even in non-spiritual things is a step to greater depths in the spirit; after-all it is not about being sinless but Holiness.
Let me pose a question to you the Holy Spirit once asked me.
“Why do you argue with me and oppose me when you can only tell your past from your present and I on the other hand can tell your future even from your past?”
Please stop opposing the Holy Spirit, embrace obedience no matter how weird the instructions may be; for as He once told me, “when I give an instruction, you start it, I would sustain it and together we would finish it”.
Obedience is how to grow in holiness!!
