* Continued from Part Two
In the previous related posts, we established that teachings that attempt to draw people to the Father by 'threatening' them with pending judgment and wrath are contrary to the Father's recommended pattern, and despite the seeming succeess of these methods, they are counter-productive. In this post we continue from where we left off in Part Two
3. It raises ignorant Christians
If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?
Psalm 11: 3
Just as it is near impossible for an individual who has been taught (and firmly holds unto what he has been taught) that “+” operand means multiply to ever get any mathematical calculation right, even more so it is, for an individual who has been made to see God as a judge or even a judging Father to get to learn and know the Father in-depth.
Recall that this kind of message brings about fear; and we know that He that feareth is not made perfect in love (1 John 4: 18). Thus we see that such Christians can never reach perfect knowledge.
They would always be ignorant.
Moreover, such teachings make people so self-conscious that they mentally create a barrier between them and God. If they cannot come boldly to God, how then can they be taught by Him?
But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
1 Corinthians 2: 9 & 10
4. It is responsible for the existence of Backsliding & short lived walk with God in Christianity
Fear of punishment has never been a force strong enough to keep people from doing wrong. If it were, the Law of Moses would have excelled at ensuring right living.
There is a limit to which fear of judgment can go and individuals driven by this fear would ultimately get weary of their Christian faith, would constantly battle with living right under pressure and would eventually leave when human effort fails.
Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, this is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts
Zechariah 4: 6
If the right message were taught, backsliding would be non-existent in the body of Christ; all that would exist would be the falling away by the sons of perdition.
And the list goes on and on!
Do you now see the danger of such teachings ?
Watch out for the Conclusion (Part Four)
