I am pretty sure that Matthew 17: 20 is a verse you might have seen a thousand times, might have recited or even know by heart, but today I would be showing you a simple truth, you are perhaps yet to discover, a truth that might shake up your theology and belief just as it did mine on that unsuspecting and beautiful morning.
And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
Matthew 17: 20 KJV
It was the mid-hours of the morning and I was doing a few house chores when I heard the Holy Spirit speak.
So strange was what I heard that I had to ask “are you sure?” as a thousand and one scriptures (supposedly supporting my belief came to my mind. “Go search the scriptures” was all He said, and search, I did and by His grace I found the truth.
Care to know what this truth is?
Now to take a look at that passage of scripture again paying attention to the part in bold.
Can you see it!! Our Lord Jesus is saying that ‘faith’ as little as a mustard seed can do the impossible (nothing exempted) and we know that a mustard seed is one of the smallest of seeds on earth (Mark 4: 31).
May I add that whereas Matthew 17: 20 is speaking about faith with respect to the ‘size’ of the mustard seed, Mark 4:31 is speaking about the Kingdom of God with respect to the ‘growth capacity’ of the mustard seed.
Thus it would be scripturally illogical and contextually inaccurate to merge both scriptures just because ‘mustard seed appears in both.
Wow!! Just imagine producing unimaginable feats with so little a faith!!
I don’t know how much ‘faith’ you ‘think’ you have but it is more than enough to do the impossible.
Glory to the Father!!
Don’t get excited just yet! Let’s look at another passage of scripture to help you see what the Father is trying to show you!!
