In my final year in the university, just before my convocation ceremony, the Holy Spirit instructed me to go on a year-long fast (starting from the August of that year) in preparation for ministry. During this year, among other things, He gave me the vision, mission and message of the I IN CHRIST.
One of the key instructions He gave me concerning the assignment was that, as a ministry, we were to have a one year fast every five years. He called it our sabbath year. I was curious if there were any scriptural precedent for this instruction and He directed me to Leviticus 25: 1 - 4.
The Lord spoke to Moses at Mount Sinai. He said, "Tell the Israelites: When you enter the land that I am giving to you, you must let the land have a special time of rest. This will be a special time of rest to honor the Lord. You will plant seed in your field for six years. You will trim your vineyards for six years and bring in its fruits. But during the seventh year, you will let the land rest. This will be a special time of rest to honor the Lord. You must not plant seed in your field or trim your vineyards

Without boring you with the elaborate details of His explanations, our sabbath year is our God-appointed year for dedicated spiritual replenishing. During this year, we are to make a concerted effort towards our spiritual growth by engaging in a daily fast. Each one is to fast daily to the degree that he can.
Please bear in mind that a fast is not so much about abstaining from food and other pleasures, as it is about fellowship with God. We would learn more about what a fast is and how to fast effectively in another post.
To assist us in our journey of spiritual development, I would share study materials, teachings, prayer points, etc. daily. It is our prayer/hope that every member spends at least an hour a day in fellowship with God this sabbath year.
Now, because of the sabbath year, please take note of the following changes in our operations:
Other categories in the forum (community) may not get as many contents as usual as we would focus all attention on the Sabbath Year category.
Our help desk, prayer lines and contact lines may not be responsive as usual.
The best time to get immediate response from our support lines would be between 1800 HRS and 2200 HRS GMT +1
We would communicate any other changes as they arise.
As we partake in this year-long fast, we should expect the following:
The clarity in vision and purpose on earth
A deeper understanding of God's Word
An end of everything that is not consistent with the new life in Christ
An unprecedented spiritual, emotional and financial growth
An answer to all prayers
and much more
You may be thinking to yourself; "One year is a long time, am I sure I can do this?" Take it from someone that has done it before (24 hours a day, 365 days, with no contact with the world); it is much easier than it seems. All it takes is a decision to do it, and the Holy Spirit takes over from there.
Making that firm decision to fast and being bold enough to say it, is a necessary part of a successful fast.
Let us know in the comments section that you have decided to commit to your spiritual replenishing and we would be praying for you by name.
