The Lord said to me, “I knew you before you were formed within your mother’s womb; before you were born I sanctified you and appointed you as my spokesman to the world.” “O Lord God,” I said , “I can’t do that! I’m far too young! I’m only a youth!” “Don’t say that,” he replied, “for you will go wherever I send you and speak whatever I tell you to. And don’t be afraid of the people, for I, the Lord, will be with you and see you through.” Then he touched my mouth and said, “See, I have put my words in your mouth! Today your work begins...
Jeremiah 1: 4 - 10 TLB
Israel was in a state of rebellion against God. A rebellion that was much greater than any rebellion before it. They had rebelled against the Father many times before, but this very rebellion was at the peak. Many prophets had been sent to warn them of the danger of their evil ways. Many had been sent to show them the Father's love for them. However, they were in no mood to listen or change. Rather than listen to the Father’s messengers, they killed them or locked them in prisons. They were bent on having their way and nothing was going to stop them.
It was in this state of things that the Father called Jeremiah. He did not choose the elders of the people or any influential person to speak to the people; instead He chose to send a young lad. He chose to send Jeremiah; an unknown kid with no recognized office or authority. Understandably, Jeremiah felt he was unqualified for the job. He was just a young chap with no prior experience; but the Father did not agree with him. Jeremiah was more than qualified, though he didn’t know it. He was sent to the earth specifically for that assignment. Long before he was born, he was selected and empowered for the job. Above all, the Father was always going to be with him. What other qualification did he need?
The Father has put us on this earth with specific assignments all geared towards the fulfillment of His higher purpose. The general purpose of the organization to which we belong is the salvation of souls; but we have our own specific roles to play. We have our own specific assignments and place of operation/impact. Looking through the world's eyes , it may seem like these assignments are far greater than us and that we don’t have what it takes to get it done. It may seem like we are unqualified.
But we know the truth, we are more than qualified for the job. We have all we need to be successful
in the assignment that has been given to us. No one else on earth can do our assignment better than we can. We are the Father’s first and best choice for the job. We don’t look at what the world sees; all we see is the Father in us, His confidence in us and His ability at work in us.
We are the Father’s first and best choice for our given assignment. No one else on earth can do our assignment better than we can.
Just as the Father told Jeremiah, “today our work begins”, we must unfold our hands and get to work. We are not too young! Don’t be a coward. Don’t be afraid to do what the Father has sent you on earth to do. Don’t look down on yourself, because of your background, your present knowledge, available resources, etc. You have the Holy Spirit (the answer to all needs) always with you. Move at the word ‘go’ (not before and not after).
You are qualified, yea, you are more than qualified!
